Helen was joined by local Labour party members in Bishop Auckland Town Centre on Saturday to show that it is the Labour Party that cares for the NHS.

Helen Goodman MP said:

"Theresa May cannot give Britain the change we need, her recent Autumn Statement did not contain a single extra penny for the NHS and social care, pushing it into further crisis.

The NHS is underfunded and understaffed; patients in this constituency are waiting longer to see their GP, longer for ambulances, longer for A&E and longer for hospital waiting lists.

Labour created the NHS to care for us all and now it's time to care for the NHS. Thats why the Labour Party is calling on the Government to take immediate action to protect our NHS".

Local Labour candidate for the upcoming council elections, Nigel Bryson said:

"'The Tory £3.4 billion reorganisation of the NHS has brought the organisation to its knees. Hundreds of concerned people signed our Care for the NHS petition. This positive response from people in Bishop Auckland will help the Labour Party lobby the Government to increase the funding the NHS needs.'
