"Parliament is the referee and I'm afraid we had to blow the whistle"
Helen spoke out after the resignation of Charlotte Hoff, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England. Ms Hogg resigned following a Treasury Select Committee report which rescinded its approval of her appointment after her disclosure that she failed to inform the Bank of England about her family connections to Barclays Bank.
As a prominent member of the Treasury Select Committee Helen was interviewed by Channel 4 News and ITN at Ten.
Helen said: "Sometimes we just have to have rules of the game. Parliament is the referee and I'm afraid we had to blow the whistle".
