BBC News reported on Helen’s work in Parliament to tackle unfair estate maintenance fees. Many new-build housing developments now come with private maintenance contracts where residents pay for the upkeep of public spaces around their homes.
These fees are not regulated, and usually rise each year. Homeowners do not have much control over what work is completed on the estate, or how their money is being spent. It is being described as ‘the next PPI scandal waiting to happen.’
