Shops and Businesses from Bishop Auckland, Shildon and Spennymoor are invited to a breakfast event at Shildon Civic Hall on Monday 12th November, 8.30am. The breakfast, hosted by Helen and card processing company Square, will give business owners the chance to discover a low cost way to accept digital payments.

Square will be launching a new scheme during the event, which will enable local businesses to receive £1000 in fee-free card processing, and a free Square Reader and charging dock, worth £58+VAT. There is no obligation to sign up on the day.

Square offers businesses a low-cost way to accept contactless, chin and PIN, telephone and mobile payments, and comes with a free point-of-sale app to manage and track sales.

Many people do not regularly carry cash, and it is important that their trade is not pushed out of our town centres and high streets.

Speaking about the scheme, Helen said: “This offers a much-needed boost to businesses in Bishop, Shildon and Spennymoor. With banks vanishing from our high streets, and fewer shoppers carrying cash, it’s important that our businesses are equipped and supported to accept a wider range of payment types.”

Attendance at the Square business breakfast is free, but businesses are asked to RSVP via our office at goodmanh@parliament.uk or by phone on 01388 603 075
