Helen Goodman has launched a new card payment scheme for small businesses in partnership with card processing company, Square. Shops and businesses across the constituency are now able to sign up to a low cost method of accepting cashless payments.

The Square scheme allows local businesses to receive £1000 in fee-free card processing, and a free Square Reader and charging dock, worth £58+VAT.

Square offers businesses a low-cost way to accept contactless, chin and PIN, telephone and mobile payments, and comes with a free point-of-sale app to manage and track sales.

Many people do not regularly carry cash, and it is important that their trade is not pushed out of our town centres and high streets.

Speaking about the scheme, Helen said: “This offers a much-needed boost to businesses in Bishop, Shildon and Spennymoor. With banks vanishing from our high streets, and fewer shoppers carrying cash, it’s important that our businesses are equipped and supported to accept a wider range of payment types.”

Further information about the Square scheme can be found on their website.

The Square offer is open to businesses or individuals with a DL2, DL4, DL11, DL12, DL13, DL14 or DL16 postcode.
