There are 118,000 manufacturing jobs in the North East, providing £5.5bn in wages. In Bishop Auckland constituency, there are 5000 jobs worth £232 million locally.

These jobs must be protected. That’s why I support a customs union to defend British manufacturing. A customs union arrangement means that we leave European Union, while keeping the friction-free trading arrangements that our manufacturing industries need to survive.

GMB Union have created some useful graphics which show the impact that manufacturing has on our economy, based on numbers from the Office of National Statistics:

Please share these facts and help stand up for British manufacturing.
